right not to believe

34
Estonians are the least religious nation in Europe, 16% of people believed in God according to a 2005 poll. Most likely also the most atheistic nation in the world, since Europe and communist China are world leaders in secularism. The 2011 Estonian cencus results on religious affiliation are not out yet, but it will not give a full picture, since the question was optional. At the same time more than 500 religious sects are registered in Estonia, Christianity being the dominant religion. Against this background I met two missionary families last week at a tea party, one from the UK, the other from the US, both mentioned that there is a lot to do in Estonia, many infidels. I like living in a country, where people have the right not to believe in God. When religion becomes a precondition to excersizing one’s civil and political rights, I draw the line. This is happening all over the world today in the end of 2012. Look around the world news these days... Pic @ Tallinn Kaarli Lutheran church during a school concert.
