Life in Tallinn is happening behind closed doors, around kitchen tables, with a bottle of beer. Not only because it is -5C and snow outside, more because Estonians don’t have the habit to eat out and it is too much trouble to find a baby sitter. In order to know Tallinners you have to get invited to their homes. Take a bottle of wine and a snack with you -- Estonian career moms have no time to prepare a dinner for guests after work, home delivery is almost nonexistent and there is no take-out near your home. But food has to be on the table. Tallinn does not live in the streets even in the summer, terraces are rare outside Old Town.
