The Sun rises 2 minutes earlier every morning, today at 8.40 a.m. The weather is nasty, wet and slushy, you have to wear rubber boots to get through the streets. North wind is blowing your mind away, city streets are not cleaned properly, relief will come only in April after the snow melts.
The Center Party ruling Tallinn City Government is trying to win votes for the next local elections on October 20, 2013 by making public transport free, but not for everyone, only Tallinn city residents. Explanations what tourists and non-residents must do are vague: “Purchase a Public Transport Card … in various points of sale, … load money onto your Public Transport Card or buy an e-ticket. It can be done at a point of sale, with a mobile phone, or on Internet.” In a month more than 5000 people form neighbouring counties have registered as residents in order to get the free ride, remains to be seen how soon after the elections the free ride will end. Not to mention that the public transport system runs on the same routes as 25 years ago in the Soviet times. Pic @ Vanaka Hill, Mustamäe.
