The winter seems endless. White snow fell again over the week-end and for a couple of days the city will be beautiful. The past couple of weeks the main media shaker in Estonia has been a local Russian-minded “cinque brigada” MP Yana Toom who told a Russian Federation paper that Estonians are a dying nation.  It is the same MP who is fighting for Russian language to become the second official language in Estonia and the 24th official language in the European Union. At Estonia’s 1.29 million population (the size of the Bronx) adding Russian as a second official language would definitely make us a dying nation. Today the populaton of native Estonians is about 900 000 and the rest are mostly immigrants from the Soviet times. As one of the smallest nation states in the world we are quite happy the way we are and wish to be left alone by imperialist neighbours. My beautiful backyard in Kalamaja between Salme and Kungla streets.
